To the mother who wrote this letter:
If anyone needs to move, it's you. Babies and dogs use their voices to communicate and Max uses his voice to do so. If he bothers you, purchase earplugs and use them. Explain to your "normal" kids that he is communicating in his way. Prejudice such as this is a hindrance to the world, not autistic people. There are people out there that will love and care for him. Employers will hire him for a job. If he is lucky, he will attract the attention of a nice girl, and maybe she will be autistic as well. Personally, I think he has a purpose and that his body parts can be donated to science if that's what he wants, but that's after he lives a fulfilling and happy life. Parents of special needs kids only want the best for their child. They do not act like they are entitled to special treatment. Instead, they are raising a child with additional challenges and don't want that individual limited to their home. Go do this mother a huge favor and apologize for your hateful speech. You should also apologize to her son, Max. Go buy her some flowers and write a sincere apology letter. Learn how to play the flute and have an apology recital. Nobody wants to hear any more of this from you and a lot of people have the guts to tell you. Do the right thing and apologize or move. Either way, we are all better off without this offensive letter.
Sincerely,
One appalled autistic band geek
